Howard Taylor

18 Nov 2016

It is with great sadness that we advise of the death of Howard Taylor: a champion for our industry for decades. His commitment continued for many years into his “retirement” with active involvement in codes and standards work, education activity and his own consultancy endeavours. For example, he was chairman of BSI Committee B/524 Head Code Precast Concrete Products, and his final meeting was due to be on December 6th.

Howard wrote well over 60 publications covering all manner of precast concrete structures. Three examples to give an idea of breadth and timeframe are given below:

Structural design and the Eurocodes – a historical review; The Structural Engineer, 2008

Stability Design of Long Precast Concrete Beams; Proc ICE, Structures and Buildings, May 1999

An investigation of the crack control characteristics of various types of bar in reinforced concrete beams; London, Cement & Concrete Association, 1967

Our condolences are with his family and friends at this time.
